This month, we are celebrating the remarkable young pupils who have been supported through the Spencer Superstars Charitable Foundation to pursue their passions and live their dreams.
The Foundation aims to provide funding to children with outstanding ability to ensure they can access the resources they need to learn, grow and nurture their talents. We are proud to share with you the stories of these superstars whom we have had the privilege of supporting…
Harlow Simpson, Inkersall Spencer Academy
Harlow is a young gymnast with extraordinary talent. Though she only took up the sport a year and a half ago, her head coach spotted her potential right away and placed her in the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Squad. Harlow is passionate about the sport and trains for ten hours every week, with the ultimate goal of competing in the British Championships and eventually representing her country in the Olympics. Recently Harlow placed 10th in her first Yorkshire grades competition. The funds provided by Spencer Superstars helps pay for Harlow’s training fees, competition fees, and equipment.
Thomas Hickerman, Inkersall Spencer Academy
Thomas is an up and coming football star, playing for both the Brimington Little Stars FC on and Staveley Miners Welfare JFC Raptors U10 teams. He’s already had scouts from Chesterfield and Derby come out to see him play right wing. Thomas practices twice a week, in addition to the two games, and thanks to Spencer Superstars will be able to take one-on-one coaching sessions at the Chesterfield FC per his coaches’ recommendation.
Isla Shorten, Inkersall Spencer Academy
Isla has been training with Dronfield Gymnastics Academy since she was only 18 months old, and was selected by them to compete by the time she turned four. After coming in fourth at a previous Yorkshire levels competition, Isla is heading back for another one. As she embarks on the British national pathway for gymnasts—the most competitive of the three—Isla will need a new leotard, which will be covered by funds from Spencer Superstars.
